Not notifying them of this change can result in a loss of money for you and a very big hassle for everyone including yourself.

There is a long list of circumstances that affects your benefits including outstanding warrants for your arrest, being convicted on a crime, violating a condition of parole or probation or if you are planning on leaving the United States for any reason.
